La crisis sanitaria originada por el Covid-19 ha transformado la vida de millones de personas en el mundo. La forma como los gobiernos la enfrentan, con qué recursos y mediante qué organizaciones y la forma cómo reacciona cada sociedad, minimiza o amplifica el impacto de la pandemia. El papel del Estado es indispensable pues es el garante de la seguridad de los ciudadanos, de su salud, su patrimonio y su bienestar. Su intervención es fundamental para minimizar los costos que imponga la devastación sanitaria, social y económica. Sin embargo, en México la estrategia seguida por el gobierno rápidamente lo atrapó en un falso dilema: salvar vidas o salvar la economía. El esfuerzo de confinamiento realizado por la población no logró romper el ciclo de contagio y deja a la pandemia fuera de control que sólo muestra un futuro incierto.
Abstract
The health crisis caused by Covid-19 has transformed the lives of millions of people in the world. The way governments deal with it, with what resources and through what organizations and how each society reacts, minimizes or amplifies the impact of the pandemic. The role of the State is indispensable because it is the guarantor of the security of citizens, their health, their heritage and their well-being. Their intervention is essential to minimize the costs of health, social and economic devastation. In Mexico, however, the government’s strategy quickly caught him in a false dilemma: saving lives or saving the economy. The confinement effort carried out by the population failed to break the cycle of contagion and leaves the pandemic out of control that only shows an uncertain future.
