Close to the epicentre: comparative analysis of the economies of Canada and Mexico in the crisis of 2008-2009

Abstract

There is compared the economic performance of Canada and Mexico during the international crisis and recession of 2008-2009. One presents a brief comparison of both economies before the crisis and there is analyzed the performance of the total GDP, for sectors of economic activity and for components of the added demand. Likewise there is evaluated the economic impact of the North American recession on the exports of both countries and one presents an analysis of the paper that the policies played fiscal, monetary and exchange to measure the impact of the external shock during to crisis. Finally, some conclusions are suggested.
