La pandemia se confirma como tema global por excelencia. No ha habido cuestión que la desplace del centro de la atención y el debate, y actúa como prisma desde el que se observan y aprecian numerosos otros asuntos de la escena internacional. Aunque no es la primera del siglo, sí constituye vivencia sin precedente para el conjunto de la actual sociedad mundial. La centralidad alcanzada por la pandemia refleja diversos factores como la rapidez de su expansión, la inexistencia de vacuna y de tratamientos comprobados, la recepción pública que tendrá la vacuna una vez que esté disponible. Este texto contiene un intento de mostrar la influencia sin precedente, por su inmediatez, amplitud y desmesura, que la pandemia y sus secuelas han ejercido sobre gobiernos, economías y sociedades del mundo globalizado del primer cuarto del siglo XXI. Es claro que tienen un carácter preliminar, tentativo y especulativo. Se espera, en el mejor de los casos, aportar elementos útiles para la discusión.
Abstract
The pandemic confirms itself as global matter for excellence. No other issue has displaced it from the center of attention and debate, and it acts as a prism from which are observed and appreciated numerous other matters in the international scene. No matter it is not the first in the century, it does constitute and unprecedented experience for the whole actual world society. The centrality achieved by the pandemic reflects various factors, like the quickness of its expansion, the lack of a vaccine and of proven treatments, the public receptions that the vaccine will have once disposable. This text tries to show the unprecedented influence of the pandemic and its aftermath, for its immediacy, wideness and excess, on governments, economies and societies in the globalized world at the first quarter of XXI century. It is clear that it has a preliminary, tentative, speculative character. It is hoped, in the best case, to provide useful elements to discussion.
